Sports Injury Treatment Brisbane

Reviewed by Dr John White, Osteopath at Osteoworks. Last updated 1 November 2026.

Whether you are a weekend runner, a gym regular or a competitive athlete, an injury needs more than rest. At Osteoworks in Kangaroo Point, our osteopaths treat the injury, look at the movement and load behind it, and build a plan to get you back to sport with confidence. Book Appointment or call (07) 3217 3131.

Sports Injuries We Treat

Ankle sprains

Pain and swelling after rolling an ankle. Good rehabilitation reduces the chance of repeat sprains. Early assessment helps us rule out a fracture or significant ligament injury.

Hamstring, calf and quad strains

Sudden pain while sprinting, kicking or lunging. We guide you on when and how to reload the muscle.

Knee pain

Pain around the kneecap or tendon from running, jumping or squatting. See our knee pain page.

Tennis elbow and other elbow pain

Pain on the outer elbow that builds with gripping or lifting, common in racquet sports, climbing and desk work. We assess the elbow, shoulder and neck and plan a graded loading programme.

Shoulder injuries

Strains and overuse problems in swimmers, throwers and gym-goers. See our shoulder pain page.

Shin and lower leg pain

Aching along the shin or calf in runners, often linked to sudden increases in training.

Lower back and hip pain in athletes

Pain from heavy lifting, rotation or running. See our back pain and hip pain pages.

Our Approach

1. Find the cause. We assess the injured area and how your whole body moves, and review your training load, technique and recovery.

2. Treat. Hands-on care to ease pain and restore movement.

3. Rebuild. Progressive exercise to restore strength and control, including corrective exercise training where suitable.

4. Return to sport. A staged plan based on how your body responds, not only the calendar.

Who We See

Runners, cyclists, gym and CrossFit athletes, footballers, tennis and squash players, and people returning to activity after a break or surgery.

What You Can Do Now

  • Reduce the activity that sharply increases pain, but keep gently moving within comfort
  • Avoid pushing through sharp pain
  • Book an assessment if pain has not eased within a few days, or if the same niggle keeps returning
  • Build training back up gradually once cleared

When to Seek Urgent Medical Care

  • You cannot put weight on the leg or take four steps
  • A visibly deformed joint or suspected broken bone
  • Severe swelling or a hot, red joint with fever
  • Numbness, loss of pulse or colour changes in the limb
  • Head injury with confusion, drowsiness or vomiting
