Hip Pain

End Daily Hip Pain , Improve Your Mobility And Restore Health - Without Medication or Injections and Without Having Surgery!

Have You Got a Sore Hip(s)?

It's easy to think the legs are key to moving around – whether running, walking, twisting, turning, or hop, skipping or jumping. But our legs are not of much use without the pelvis and the all-important ball-and-socket joints in the hips connecting the upper and lower body, stabilizing the legs, and allowing us to hinge and flex and get up down from sitting and standing.

However, the hips are so integral to our movement, making them vulnerable to pain and problems. When things go wrong and your hip (or hips) is sore, it can be highly debilitating because there is little you can do without moving your hips and exacerbating the pain.

Hip pain doesn't stop at the hips either. Some people feel hip pain that radiates into the lower back, buttocks, groin and legs. But, of course, the opposite is also true – the pain you feel may not be from the hips at all. Instead, it might be a lower back issue related to a posture imbalance. That's why it's essential to get checked over by an osteopath, so we can find and fix the root cause of your hip pain.

Although it’s more common past a “certain age”, many cases of hip pain are due to arthritis. Hip pain isn’t a “natural” part of getting older. We can prevent it. Plus, Osteopathy can slow and sometimes even reverse the degenerative process associated with arthritis, depending on the severity of the condition. But whatever the cause, the critical thing to remember is that if you come and see us at the first signs of hip pain, we can keep you off the surgeon's table and help you avoid invasive hip replacement surgery later – regardless of whether you're 29 or 89.

We see treat patients with hip pain all the time. It’s one of the most common pain problems we see in the OSTEOWORKS clinic.

“But Why is This Happening to Me?”...

or

Why Do I Still Have Hip Pain When I Have Been Resting And Taking It Easy For 6 Months+?”

Everyone has sore hips sometimes (especially past a certain age), right? Wrong. Your hips should be flexible, pain-free, and stable, regardless of age. But whether you're young or old or somewhere in between, the pain won't just disappear if you leave it. It's tempting to believe it will if you rest and take it easy. But in our experience, it doesn't. Instead, in most cases, the pain gets worse.

Have You Had Hip Pain For More Than Seven Days?

If you’ve had hip pain for longer than a week, you’ve probably already been to see your GP. They likely told you to rest, take anti-inflammatories and take it easy. Then escorted you out of their office with the age-old, “Come back and see me if it doesn’t get better”

Unfortunately, most of the patients we see end up back in their doctor's office (before they come to us). They told them to take more painkillers and get more rest because things didn't get better.

If You’ve Been Putting Up With Hip Pain For A Long Time, You’re Not Alone. We Hear These Types Of Statements From Patients all the time

  • "I thought the pain would go in time, but it just didn't."
  • "I went to the Doctor, and they told me it was just getting old or arthritis."
  • "I tried exercising through the pain, but it got even worse."
  • "I saw a surgeon, but he said surgery was the last resort, and he would only operate when I couldn't stand the pain any longer."
  • I tried to rest if longer, even took time off the gym and work, but the pain is still the same”

Do These Statements Sound Familiar to You?

If they do, you don't have to endure hip pain indefinitely. We can help.

What Can I do to Get Rid of My Hip Pain Now?

If you have been in pain for a while, there is no immediate fix. It takes time. But you can reduce your pain and discomfort with these tips:

  • First, you need to make sure you’re hydrated. When your body is dehydrated, it is prone to stiffness, aches, and pains. So, drinking water won't cure your hip pain. But, ensuring you're well-hydrated every day can go a long way toward reducing the severity of your symptoms.
  • Next, try using heat therapy or an ice pack. Heat and cold can help reduce inflammation and pain in your hips. Don't worry too much about which one to choose. Both are beneficial for hip pain. Choose the one that feels the most relaxing and comforting to you.
  • Get up and move – When you sit with your hips flexed for long periods, the “hinges”, which are what our hip joints are - get stiff. All the muscles and connective tissues around the hips get stressed and become tight and inflexible. So, rather than sit all day at work – get up and move around at regular intervals to ensure your hips aren't flexed in an uncomfortable position for too long.
  • Get expert, “hands-on” Osteopathy – the best way to reduce your pain and discomfort and get rid of hip pain for good is to start regular Osteopathic treatment.

If you would like to learn how the Osteopaths at Osteoworks can help you correct your posture and help you get rid of hip pain, you can book a Free Discovery Session at the Kangaroo Point clinic to meet the team, view our facilities and talk to us about your hip issues.

How Osteopaths Help Relieve Pain & Prevent Future Injury

Comprehensive, Hands-On Care for Lasting Results

Osteopathy is a holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing musculoskeletal problems. Unlike treatments that simply address symptoms, osteopaths work to identify and treat the root cause of your pain, helping you achieve long-term relief and better overall health. Whether you're dealing with chronic discomfort or a recent injury, an experienced Brisbane osteopath can provide personalised care tailored to your specific needs.

Understanding Osteopathic Treatment

Osteopaths use a variety of hands-on techniques to improve mobility, reduce tension, and restore balance to your body. These include gentle stretching, massage, joint mobilisation, and manipulation. Each treatment is carefully designed based on a thorough assessment of your posture, movement patterns, and medical history. This comprehensive approach means that osteopathy can effectively address a wide range of conditions, from acute injuries to ongoing pain management.

Relief for Common Pain Conditions

Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek osteopathic care. Whether it's lower back pain from sitting at a desk all day, a sports-related injury, or chronic stiffness, osteopaths have the skills to help. By releasing tight muscles, improving joint mobility, and addressing postural imbalances, treatment can significantly reduce pain and help you return to your normal activities. Many patients find that regular osteopathic sessions prevent back problems from returning.

Neck pain is another frequent complaint, often caused by poor posture, stress, or prolonged computer use. Osteopaths gently work on the neck, shoulders, and upper back to relieve tension, improve range of motion, and reduce headaches that often accompany neck problems. Treatment may also include advice on ergonomics and exercises to strengthen supporting muscles.

Hip pain can be particularly debilitating, affecting your ability to walk, sleep, and enjoy daily activities. Osteopaths assess not just the hip joint itself, but also the lower back, pelvis, and legs, as hip problems often stem from or contribute to issues in surrounding areas. By addressing the whole kinetic chain, osteopathic treatment can provide lasting relief and improve your overall mobility.

A Holistic Approach to Prevention

One of the key benefits of osteopathy is its focus on prevention. Rather than waiting for pain to return, your osteopath will work with you to identify factors that may be contributing to your problems. This might include postural habits, workplace ergonomics, exercise techniques, or lifestyle factors. You'll receive practical advice and exercises to help you maintain improvements between sessions and reduce the risk of future injury.

Why Choose a Local Osteopath?

If you're in the Brisbane area, seeing a local practitioner offers significant advantages. A Brisbane osteopath understands the lifestyle factors common to the area—from active outdoor pursuits to commuter stress—and can provide relevant, practical advice. For residents in and around Kangaroo Point, convenient access to quality osteopathic care means you can easily fit treatment into your schedule, whether you need a single session for an acute issue or ongoing care for chronic conditions.

Our clinic provides a welcoming, professional environment where your health is our priority. We take the time to listen to your concerns, explain our findings, and involve you in your treatment plan. Many patients are surprised by how quickly they notice improvements and how much better they feel with regular care.

Take the First Step Toward Pain-Free Living

Don't let pain limit your life. Whether you're experiencing back pain, neck pain, hip pain, or any other musculoskeletal issue, osteopathy offers a safe, effective, drug-free approach to relief. With the right treatment and guidance, you can move better, feel stronger, and enjoy life more fully. Contact us today to book an appointment and discover how osteopathy can help you achieve lasting results.
